Game Vision & Product Strategy

To define a new project's place within the wider portfolio, the studio wanted to understand and reinforce the vision the creative team had for the game, understand it's potential audience and ensure that was communicated throughout the local and wider business. 

Key project outputs included: 
  • Coach workshop and roundtable discussions with project leadership, helping them understand, process and articulate a clear and compelling vision for their game.
  • Translating that vision into a workable positioning statement and set of design principals and communicating it throughout the studio and publisher.
  • Identification of target audience demographics and preferences.
  • Crafting a detailed product strategy outlining features, mechanics, and monetization models.

​AAA Games Studio / 12 Months / Product & Portfolio Strategy

As part of a wider portfolio strategy, this studio's objective was to secure key strategic partnerships to diversify and grow a core franchise over the next decade.

Key project outputs included: 
  • Evaluating and targeting key IP holders that aligned with the strengths of the development team and franchise plan. 
  • Contract negotiations and relationship management, establishing favourable commercial terms, and ensuring creative collaboration with the IP holder.
  • Aligning game design, budgetary considerations, and project schedules with the unique sensibilities of the IP.
  • Navigating a rigorous project greenlight process involving two multinational corporations, ensuring coordination with and adherence to all stakeholders' requirements.



​OUTCOME
  • Secured a ten-year licensing and partnership agreement with a major entertainment IP.
  • Passed internal greenlight process, secured initial funding and helped establish project team.
  • Sold in vision and potential to IP holder's internal creative team, securing further support, prioritisation and collaboration.

Undertake the redesign and relaunch of a major gaming franchise brand, a comprehensive project to define the potential, guide strategic brand decision-making and produce practical assets for deployment. The project entailed evaluating the franchise against market conditions, aligning with its core objectives, and anticipating future use cases. 

Key project outputs included: 
  • Analysis of existing brand elements, market trends, internal team values and customer research.
  • Creative direction of brand tone, imagery, and messaging. Briefing and managing internal resource and external agencies throughout.
  • Detailed positioning, strategy and internal communications guidance and stakeholder management.
  • Production of a full suite of core brand guidelines, assets and documentation.
